10/3/2011 - Update. New pictures, mostly showing the carbon work I recently completed.

I recently completed some custom carbon work after repairing a crack in a set of carbon bars. Some people might think I'm crazy for this, but I have full faith in the strength of the repair and have put in plenty of miles since the repair/integrated work. After repairing the bars, I decided to go all in and perform my own custom carbon bar/stem combo. I used 1.5" 11oz unidirectional tape for the work and I think it came out very well. I used my Syntace F119 stem, modified and bonded the bars in my usual position, then wrapped with an uninterrupted pattern for strength. The top layer of carbon is cut and laid for the cosmetic look. Plenty of time to sand and applied a satin finish. Total time of 3 days work due to cure time and sanding. Weight for the combo came in at 290 grams. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of them being weighed before the install.

Depending on what the winter brings, I'll either modify/upgrade some parts on this bike, or if possible, I'm looking to upgrade the frame. We will see what happens with time. More pictures on my Flickr page.

Excellent bike! I'm wondering why you went with the team geo? The head tube lengths are 150 vs 170 and with the spacers there your probably sitting around 170-180ish. Unless of course your getting rid of the spacers and cutting the steerer.

Regarding the spacers. The frame was only available in the team geo for a size 56 carbon. I would have had to wait until October for the regular geometry. I knew I could make it work with some spacers. I will be removing spacers slowly as I dial in the fit. It was cut at the maximum and will be adjusted later.

Wow! Great looking bike. I've never seen Stronglight chainrings paired with SRAM Red cranks. Looks great though. Are the Stronglight rings better than the SRAM Red ones?
