Hi,

I am trying to find some info on this frameset but is hard to find much.
It's a Principia Limited 2005 in cherry red.

Does anyone know what headset / forks would fit this ?

Looks like a regular, non-integrated headset, not the wider lower cup some Principia frames use.

Why not ask CRC?

Wonderful frame.

Incredible that it shows up at CRC.
It uses an integrated pressfit headset.
Now if I only knew if it´s standard 1 1/8 or the FSA type 1 1/8 - 1 1/4 Principia has the habit of using, but I dont know for sure.

Sorry.

It's a 1-1/4 - 1/1-8 headset and specific fork..

Indeed it is a mixed sized headset. I asked the old Principia about it back before the old stock was eventually sold off to CRC.

According the 2005 catalogue, this frameset came with a painted fork. Strange they have these frames and no forks ?

I got an anodized version from CRC (2005 model); it's a phenomenal frame and I'm sure the limited edition shown would be good quality, however I had problems with the BB thread, silly cable routing guides through the headtube and the forks (Mizuno) were low quality. The H/Set bearing race was put on by my local shop and they said the QC was poor - some delamination occurred on the steerer. You can get a Chris King Principia Headset (very high quality and lightweight) if you've got the cash, the lower cup is 1-1/4 and upper is 1-1/8.

The 2005 Principia Limited Edition pictured above use an (semi)integrated headset as opposed to all other 2005 Principia models that all used traditional external Aheadset bearings like Chirs King.
2005 Principia Brochure wrote:Available in a very limited series of 100 framesets, the Principia Limited Edition presents a further refinement of the Revolution D2S design. The Limited Edition presents a new integrated head tube that maintains the renowned Ellipse Project characteristics. No compromise - perfect aesthetics, perfect handling.

If anyone is looking for the Chris King headset for other Principia models, then it's sold here in both black and silver:

I guess you can use Cane Creek's new Headset Finder to configure a headset that fits the Principia Limited Edition:

If I recall correctly the limited was an extra stiff version of their top of the line frame. I can be wrong though. Used to have a RS6 Pro, very nice frame and good looking.

I have a silver Principia conventional 1 1/8" top cup to 1 1/4" bottom cup Headset (not integrated) for sale if anyone is interested - very good quality and very light (lighter than Chris King). This came on the 2005 Revolution Road frame I bought from CRC. £40?

brabond1 - why are you ditching it??

And as far as sizing goes, is this chart correct?

http://bikeframes.com/principia.html

if so, would someone who rides a XL 595 be right on a 57?

Gemometry charts are in the Principia PDF brochures i lnked to earlier in this topic.

Look at the first table at page 11 of the 2005 brochure for the Limited Edition gemoetry (SX FRAME GEOMETRY).
