ive been in the weight listings and im a bit puzzled

which is lighter a hope mono 4 pot

or a pair of xtr vees

the reason im puzzled is the pair part an individual mono is aroun 400 g

and it states the vees are 398 g per pair is the pair frt and rear or the pair left arm right arm

just wondering as i dont know which to fit discs or vees

thanks all

Hope mini discs are 380g (each) or 760g (pair).
Above weights include levers and hose.

XTR V-Brakes 2003 are 394g (pair).
levers 160g (pair).
cables 50g (estimate).

V-Brakes ar the lighter option. Depends on your weight and type of riding you intend to do. My personal choice is the Hope mini's. They squeel like crazy, but as I communte 22 miles a day on my mountain bike, the noise of the mini's helps as you watch padestrians panic as they think a car is slaming on the brakes before hitting them.

Easy decision if you're just looking at weight but otherwise a tough call, depends what you are going to use them for.

I recently swapped an avid v-brake setup for hope mini monos. The monos are definitely heavier (about 100g, front and rear including everything).

Power is an interesting comparison as you don't get the same bite straight out of the box but I expect them to be much more reliable for things like enduros. After two days of nasty mud, rim brakes tend to be as useful as trying to use psychokinetic powers.
.....but it still has to work!
