Stem for 1 1/4 "
Moderator: robbosmans
I think the only aftermarket stem available for 1 1/4" steerer tubes is Syntace F119 http://www.syntace.com/index.cfm?pid=3&pk=964
Syntace F119 fit 1 1/4" steerer tubes as standard and if yoiu want to use it with a regular 1 1/8" steerer, then you have to use the included alu insert:
You should also be able to buy another lenght Ritchey OEM stem through Canyon if you need another lenght. This stem fits their propitary 1 1/4" steerer tube, and maybe they have some FSA OS-115 OEM 1 1/4" stems in stock too, they used to sell bikes with this stem for a short while and have also sold bikes with the Syntace F119 stem.
You can only buy the Ritchey 1 1/4" stem through Canyon.
I'm not aware of anyone but Canyon who use 1 1/4" steerer tubes/stems, and that's why in general you can't buy aftermarket stems for this size except for Syntace F119.

I suggest reading this thread, but am not sure how up to date or accurate the information is viewtopic.php?f=3&t=42524
The Specialized pro-set stems are 1-1/4, but use adjustable shims down to 1-1/8". The shim system allows you to dial in the angle, but it will work as 1-1/4 without the shim. They pop up all the time on e-bay. I've used the comp-set version and the pro-set. Both are really stiff, but the comp is a boat anchor. Also available from specialized.
Nice find. The Specialized stems are available in both 12°, 17° and 24° angles without the adjustable shims.
Pro-Set and S-WORKS Pro-Set are available in 12° and 17° from 75 to 140 mm.
Comp-Set is available in 12° and 24° from 75 to 130 mm.
Many people have been looking for more drop for Canyon bikes than the 6° of the stock Ritchey stem.

You can buy them directly from Specialized's US website.

Thanks for adding in the details, 2-Wheels. I'm really pleased with my pro-set. Stiff. Reasonable weight (160, but I'm not clear if that includes the shim, so possibly lighter for the 1-1/4 application). S-works will drop about 10 grams. Also, if you watch E-bay long enough, you can find a white one, as I did! The white only comes stock on a couple models and is not available through the website. But its hot and worth the wait.. if you're into the white stem thing.
If you prefer a white stem, you can also get a custom white Syntace F119 stem through Cube Bikes: http://www.cube-bikes.de/xist4c/web/acc ... 36541_.htm
Looks like Cube doesn't sell the 135mm length.

I just recently ordered a 110m Ritchey WCS stem direct through Canyon.
My Ultimate AL framset came with a 90m which doesn't work for me. I initially actually went and bought a 3T arx as a replacement, not realising it was a different spec.

I too ordered a 110mm WCS Ritchey stem directly through Canyon. I think it was something around 85euros at the time... a true ripp off!
Great news about that specialized stem being compatible. I think I might order a -17 for my canyon for next season. Shame that it comes at such a hefty weight penalty.
