Please weigh the bare frame before you build it up and let me know how heavy it is.

These SL with lugs things tend to be in the 1850-1950 range so I was wondering if this one was too.

Many older Colangos I'm looking at are over 2000 grams, makes you think of how far weight has come thanks to carbon and stainless etc.

Reasonably highly evolved machines...

From memory, it was 2300g or so frame + fork....

Cannot recall the individual weights, but will weigh them both again and let you guys know.

Ta mate!

I was considering popping Chorus 11 on it instead of Centaur or Athena, but now after seeing 'Blue Steel' I really don't think carbon cranks will look any good on this....

Best place online for a grouppo? And still need some shiny 10 or 11sp hubs/wheelset to run of this thing too!

Just another thing...anyone know somewhere online that might still sell the 10sp Chorus that had the alloy levers and cranks?

Saw it today on another lads bike and think it might look great on the Merckx!

Ok, so hopfully have an alloy 10sp Centaur on it's way - found someone moving it on, still new :)

Thinking Chris King for the headset, not least of which because my lbs has them so would make life a little easier ordering wise.

Thing is, what colours do they come in? As I cannot seem to find a list of them on the site? And I'm thinking either yellow or a pink (like that in the frame) for the colour - if indeed either of those are offered by CK?

Chris King is not the best choise. Buy a Campagnolo chorus or record.

No?

You think the traditional look is the better way to go rather than a little bling?

Campy headsets are quite nice too. However, the OCD in me feels uneasy about having a record headset and a centaur group...

The super cool thing about a king headset on a bike like this is that you can order a custom coloured headset. You can have any combination of cups in lower cup, upper cup, upper bearing cap and top cap. This, however, seems to have disappeared from the website, although is probably still possible

Colours are:
Brown, black, navy, red, pewter, silver, green, gold, mango.

Pink was a limited edition breast cancer fundraiser released in 2010, but there are still a loy of those kicking around.

Another vote for a Campagnolo headset. It fits the bike better and is bombproof. Not certain about the weights on either the Campa or King stuff though...

Go with the CK on there Tinea, stuff all the anal purist b***ox.
kgt has got some wierd thing about slagging CK headsets.
Some of them guys need to wake up and respect the fact that things are well engineered and put together.
This Italian Kudos thing is ridiculous, especially considering half of it's probably made in the Far-East anyway.
One thing that is without doubt.....they are the best quality headset around for external, way better than a Campy one.
It's the three Fs !...... Fit and F***ing Forget. :)

That is not true.
I would hapilly accept a CK headset on a Parlee, or Crumpton, or Serotta, or Lunskey, or IF etc etc.
On this frame... no. As I said a campy will look much better. It is a matter of aesthetics, nothing to do with origin per se.
But that is just me you don' t have to understand this neither to agree with me.
