Building a Proxydium ...

I finally chose a frame for my next built.

After some advice from WW members, I decided to sell my CF frame and Ultegra parts, and go for ALUMINIUM!

I checked the CAAD9's for a looong time,.....buuuuuut.....

I ended up buying this (used) nice frame. Sorry for the pics with mismatched training wheels...
Cyfac Elan (Cyfac named the Proxidium frame Elan for the US, it will soon revert to original name), size M. Weight : close to 1400 g with seatpost collar, derailleur hanger, Tange headset and bottle holder bolts.
Fork is Cyfac T800: 360 g cut to 20 ish cm, with FSA expander and cap.
Since I didn't put too much $$ on the frame, the extra savings will go on parts:
GEAR BOX:
Shifters: SRAM Red
Front derailleur: SRAM Rival Braze on, with Parlee clamp
Rear derailleur:SRAM Rival, or Force
DRIVE TRAIN:
Cassette: Shimano Dura-Ace 7900
Chain: Shimano Dura-Ace 7900
Crankset (and BB): FSA K-Force Light Ceramic MegaExo 52/38 (lighter and most color coordinated) OR SRAM Red (Maybe Stronglight CT2 rings)with blackbox, OR Shimano Dura Ace 7900 (I think would be best, but worry about the looks)
BRAKES:
Calipers: TRP 960, or SRAM Red, or Negative G
Yokozuna Reaction cables and housing kit
COCKPIT:
Stem: 3T ARX Team 120
Handlebar: FSA Energy traditional bend 42 cm
Tape: Deda
COMFORT:
Seat post: 3T Doric team
Seat: San Marco Aspide Carbon FX White (Can't wait to see the San Marco Regale Carbon FX 2010 though)
Seat collar: Hope, or KCNC, or Token (any good?)
Bottle cages: Bontrager race X lite or similar
WHEELS:
Rims: Kinlin XR 270 28h. (with Velo plugs)
Hubs: Front DT 240 or Alchemy ELF, Rear DT 240
Spokes: CX-Ray
Skewers: KCNC Ti
Tires : Veloflex pavé Kevlar (though Vittoria Open Corsa 320 tpi would be nice too)
Tubes: Michelin aircomp Ultralight
PEDALS:
Pedals: Look Keo Carbon

Should come around 7 kg (ish)

I "stole" images from the net until I managed to:

1) Find my daughter's "Kodak"
2) Learn how to post decent pics on the board

I find the original "european" lettering

Here's Cyfac's geometry chart. This one is a medium (54), but it resembles is like a size 55 (TT C-C)

Comments? Red brakes are fantastic from my experience - seem to offer the best weight / strength balance of any brakes I've had. I also (temporarily) ran a 7900 cassette with my full Red drivetrain and it wasn't nice...

If you are willing to fit a 7900 c/set, what about saving some cash and going for a 7800? I think that's what I'm going to do (with Campag Centaur)

Yes , that's a big option, with 7800 chain and cassette, especially if I go for a 3rd party crankset (or 7800 crankset is still a good option, depending on deals that will come by...) .

It's a lovely frameset. Stands out from al the CAAD 9's around here

Is that a chip of the paint job at the rear brake attachment?
Oh and if you are going for SRAM/Shimano, you might think of removing the Campagnolo sticker on your NDS chain stay.

Yes, paint chip will be covered by rear brake, at $3XX. CAN for the frameset, can't expect perfection...

I don't know if I'll get thru the sanding, removing , re-clearcoating, etc...I'm not emotional about components, just want something functionnal, reliable, light and ...affordable (Campy would be great, and it would well complete this "euro" setup, but expensive and rare in my place).

Finally something different!
Curious to see how it will look at the end!

When mounted with the different training wheels I can already estimate a few things:
- Black parts will be nicer (IMHO) than Polished silver
- White tires are a no-no unless brand new (Veloflex pave's won't exactly match, but I want to try those absolutely as my next tires)

Update: I'm trying to finish this build so the bike would be below 7 kg.

Trying to decide if I should go for black or white Pro Vibe 7S stem.

Seatpost is 3T Dorico LTD. Saddle will be white Aspide.

easy, black stem, white will make it too much with the white saddle and the white from the frame. Kepp it classy, its a very nice frame.
