Reason for getting ksyrium sl's: i got a very good price on them - about cost price, i have ridden them before and felt comfortable with them. they are a good overall wheels i think anyone here would say so about them. i wanted to get spada hubs with black sapim spokes and AC CR420 rims. but it would have taken longer, and the wheels would have cost me more money. i could have gone with AC wheelset, but my friend works at toga bikes here in new york and they have had many problems with AC rear cassette hub, thats why my choice would have been with spada hubs. before all this i had Zipp rims which were sold here on the forums.
this bike has cost me about 3700-3800 bucks, i could have gone on and on getting better parts; i had FSA team issue cranks and i sold them to get superlights - because i got a very good deal on a brand new set from a friend. i think i built a good all around bike, i could have made it 14lbs easy.
syntace f99 stem with kestrel ems/sl bars 295g my bar 445g savings of 150g. if anyone is complaining about heavy it should be about my bars, but they are VERY
spada hubs with cr350 rims and sapim spokes about 1280g my wheels 1610g savings of 330g
AC or FRM bb 140g my BB 182 savings of 42g <---going to happen anyway
Time impact pedals ti/mag 260g my pedals 345g savings of 85g they have alot of float
Total savings of 607grams and i didnt even change my tires, thats because i wouldnt - i think they are that good (315g each but no tube needed). some of the changes i have listed to save weight might happen, but not till i get into road cycling full force, this is something i wanted to do for a very long time, and i think i did a good job.[/b]
