Why would he upgrade what he intentionally bought? He didn't but a complete bike, he hand picked every part. If he wanted something different he wouldn't have bought the ksyriums.

Tell me , why not sapims? I'm thinking of getting some laced to Duraace for cross racing wheels, not strong enough? or durability?. Also are the AC 420 carbon or alloy rim?, strong? not really familiar with AC

thx Drew

I just thought the lower spoke count and the real bladed spokes would make the wheel a bit faster on flats, probley not much of a difference though.

Sapims are supposed to be very strong, so they would be great. The 420's are a 34mm niobium rim. Very stiff, love so far.

Reason for getting ksyrium sl's: i got a very good price on them - about cost price, i have ridden them before and felt comfortable with them. they are a good overall wheels i think anyone here would say so about them. i wanted to get spada hubs with black sapim spokes and AC CR420 rims. but it would have taken longer, and the wheels would have cost me more money. i could have gone with AC wheelset, but my friend works at toga bikes here in new york and they have had many problems with AC rear cassette hub, thats why my choice would have been with spada hubs. before all this i had Zipp rims which were sold here on the forums.

this bike has cost me about 3700-3800 bucks, i could have gone on and on getting better parts; i had FSA team issue cranks and i sold them to get superlights - because i got a very good deal on a brand new set from a friend. i think i built a good all around bike, i could have made it 14lbs easy.

syntace f99 stem with kestrel ems/sl bars 295g my bar 445g savings of 150g. if anyone is complaining about heavy it should be about my bars, but they are VERY stiff.

spada hubs with cr350 rims and sapim spokes about 1280g my wheels 1610g savings of 330g

AC or FRM bb 140g my BB 182 savings of 42g <---going to happen anyway

Time impact pedals ti/mag 260g my pedals 345g savings of 85g they have alot of float :?

Total savings of 607grams and i didnt even change my tires, thats because i wouldnt - i think they are that good (315g each but no tube needed). some of the changes i have listed to save weight might happen, but not till i get into road cycling full force, this is something i wanted to do for a very long time, and i think i did a good job.[/b]

DT Aerolite are even better than CX-Ray for the same money. But for alu rims, there is almost no difference

cx ray better for cobblestones, a bit more flex and comfort

i have not tried either of the spokes but i do see a lot of talk that cx-ray is stiffest and strongest. can anyone show me of a test that proves dt is stiffer and stronger. has anyone here tried them both?

Tune used CX-Rays in their wheels but they changed to DT Aerolite, because their were some problems with the CX-Ray in combination with the carbon rims

If i want to go with a lighter wheelset i would go with CR350 rims, the CR420 rim is about the same weight as a ksyrium sl rim (not much rotational weight saved there, except for different spokes). now i would have to do research on DT vs. sapim, but hubs i would def go with spada or frm.
