EDIT: Time has eaten up most of the photos in this thread. I'll replace them as I find them

So about this time last year I was talking with juanmoretime and just didn’t understand the whole weight weenie thing, I was like “What’s the point? I’m fine on my 22lbs bike.” I thought that bike was light when I bought it some 9 years ago since my previous bike was probably a 30lbs Shwinn le Tour from the 80s.

With a little help from him I got myself a set of Alligator I-links and a Thompson Masterpiece and then bought an Aspide to go with the new post. Well, when I got the stuff I was amazed at how light it was even if it isn’t the lightest on the market. The seat post and saddle was lighter than my previous saddle. It seems a bug bit me and now I spent more on a frame than I would’ve spent on a complete bike 2 years ago.

Can’t tell you the weight of the frame alone but frame, headset and fork + insert is 1.62kg. Not bad by my standards, especially since that is almost lighter than my current front wheel with tire and skewer.

That's really nice. Pretty good weight too with the king headset.
I'd put 10spd record on it, with a carbon post and alloy bars and stem.
Another option might be campy record alloy cranks. I just put some on my bike with a royce titanium bottom bracket. Really nice. UT bearings get dirty too quickly for my liking.

nice frame.

Build it up cheap... no bike is worth the extra debt.

A couple of updates. Bike pictures will come later, I've got a Zipp contour SL bars and a 3T ARX Team stem on the way as well should be here within the week.

Soul Kozak Top cap:

I love the design of this, single piece construction and the recessed top looks nicer than I imaged it to be. Not to mention it's comparable in weight to the Fiber Lyte top cap, and it looks better.

Soul Kozak Seat Clamp:
Image
Might as well match the clamp and top cap, turned out to be lighter than advertised and lighter than the KCNC I was thinking of getting instead.

Parlee Front derailluer Clamp:

The matte carbon look works well with the brushed Ti of my frame.

KCNC skewers:

Can't have a weight weenie built without these babies and of course the logo's are upside down.

Clamp just came in  It does look nice against the brushed Ti, you should consider it. It's a nice contrast against the simple silver frame, if the frame was too busy it wouldn't look as good.

My New Addidtions (More pictures in first post)

Zipp Contour Sl 44cm Short and Shallow
Image
Image
The claimed weight of 190g is for the 42cm, and my 44 came in nice and under. I am quite pleased with how it turned out. They feel solid as a rock and lighter than a feather.

3T ARX Team Stem 110mm
Image
Image
Came in heavier than I expected so the lower than claimed weight of the bars is basically canceled out by the stem. It does look nice though.

Next on the List is probably Chorus 11s. Or Record 10s if I can get it for a better price.

Guess they might get their tubes made by the same company. It does look like they use different Ti alloys though.

absolutely not.

Lynskey shape thier own tube sets in house.

Image

For 6-4 tubes they use flat stock and weld the tube then shape it...

And most Ti Alloys are the same or similar.
