Cannondale F4000 vs. Specialized M5 ht disc
Moderator: Moderator Team
I'm considering to buy a new bike.
What do you think abot c'dale F4000 and Specialized M5 ht disc?
Which is lighter?
I try all this bikes and the Specialized impressed me very much, maybe due to the new terra logic Fox f80.
But C'dale seems lighter on my hands.
All this bikes are equipped with the same UST wheels and the original stuff (stem saddle handlebar etc.)
Lot of thanks for your interest

I think the CD is a bit lighter, but the Specialized is much better due to the Fox fork.

Why not Mount a fox on the C'dale? I believe king make's the conversion headsets.
If you want to see 'meh' content of me and my bike you can follow my life in pictures here!'Tape was made to wrap your GF's gifts, NOT hold a freakin tire on.'
Well, that would be a good but very expensive method.

Yes, it would be a good idea.
The cannondale weight is 9,930 kilograms ansd the Spec is 10, 220.
This is for the M frame for the CD and 18 for Spec.
I think this is the difference between Fox fork and Lefty Carbon.
But i tryed this bikes each for a day, and i found the Specialized more responsive than Cd. I'm still riding a Cannondale F5000 (the Volvo team replica of year 2000) but I think that Fox makes the difference.
Both frames are pretty good and very light.
I'll probably go for Specilaized, but why Cannondale don't offers some high level bikes with "normal" forks (no lefty or fatty)?

Because they earn more money with their own forks, and they're convinced that their forks are the best... but compared to other forks, that are nearly always even cheaper (CD forks are 1000-2000!), they aren't.

I ride a Spec M5 '04 frame / XT groupset / XTR rear derailler / X517 - XT - DT rev wheelset / Pace RC31 forks.
You have to count your fillings after a ride, but I'm very happy with my choice. It gives a stiff ride.
First suggestion to change would be to dump the Thompson Elite post for a USE Alien carbon post.
