clamp diameter: 31.8 mm
original length: 350 mm (stated)
original mass: 190.3 grams
cut-section (3.9 cm): 9.7 grams = 2.5 grams / cm
final mass: 180.4 grams
sawdust: 0.2 grams (calculated)
clamps (2): 48.1 grams
cylinders (2): 9.4 grams
bolts and washers (2): 11.7 grams
cut post: 111.2 grams (cut)
uncut post (calculated): 121.1 grams
The clamp is an obvious source of weight savings. Not much in the bolts (
8.3 grams here, saving 3.4 grams). Cutting is an obvious no-brainer.... cost me $5 at the local shop, around $0.5/gram.
