Soul S 4.0 high profile Al clinchers

Anyone already ridden these? I'm looking for a pair of aero aluminum clinchers (which are scarce nowadays) and I like the look of them... are the hubs any good?

I've heard good things but can't speak for myself.

Why aren't there more deep aluminum wheels? Do you have a weight for these?

I ordered a pair and should have them in about 10 days. I have heard the claimed weight is about right. I will post a general comment on them when I get a first ride in.

I did a lot of searching for a high profile alu rim (40mm high) as I did not want to invest in carbon at my size (87kg and 190cm.) I came up with three options that are available on the market now.

-The Soul S4.0s
-Gipiemme 716 wheels
-Try to find an older set of the Campy alu deep dish wheels

The Campy option is hit or miss and they would all be pretty old at this point.

The Gipiemme rims are essentially a copy of the old Campy rim and are pretty heavy. Gipiemme offers a full wheelset with these rims that come in over 2,000gm.

The Souls come very close to their claimed weight (as seen in that linked review above) and were the only real option in my mind. Soul offers the rim separately as a replacement part only, as I understand. The branding is a sticker which should be removable. The hubs look good and should be fine. Dealing with Soul when purchasing was a nice experience. I hope the wheels arrive soon.

These are regular black painted/anodized alloy rims, I don't see what should prevent the stickers from coming off.

I checked with Kinlin, and they do not make this rim.

Possible.

Alexrims was the first to introduce 7000 series alloy rims with their Crostini R3.1/R3.2 rims.
And these Soul rims are also made of 7000 series alloy. I haven't seen any other rim manufactures than Alex claim to use 7000 series alloy yet.

The KinLin Niobium rims are not a 7000 series alloy AFAIK, and they don't have wear indicators like the Soul rim has. So it could be made by Alexrims, which has wear indicators on many of their rims.
