Are these any good? The light weight is obviously the thing for me but just wondering about comparisons with Record rd and the durablility of the thing, looking quite fragile imo. Anyone got one? Thanks.

So far no one got a Lightweight RD. Ask again in maybe 2 months.

Just ran a search ... and this topic seemed to be the most recent one. Anybody got an update?

TOUR had a prototype a few months ago for a WW build.

Verdict: Mediocre shifting performance.

Glorycycles is selling them for $1149.90 a pop.

Who wants to shell out the dough to be the guinea pig?

Um ... WOW. So compared to RED, that's $900 more, for a weight savings of 33g. Approximately $30 per gram saved. That's got to be a record.

It's a slow day at the office:

RD Carbon Fiber 120g $1149.90 $9.52 per gram
Red 153g $299.99 $1.60 per gram
Record 187g $279.99 $1.49 per gram
DA 180g $159.99 $0.89 per gram

I know there is a price to pay for weight savings and I can live with that. But I think I just found my limit.

That extra $900 also buys you ultimate bragging rights.

But hey, if I had a money tree I'd get one!

At least it shows you're a rich guinea pig.

A factor not to be underestimated in a branch that has made tremendous gains in the "rich-dude-showing-off" department within the last few years.

Richness is measured by the number of friends you have that will dig you out of the poo, should you find yourself there,.......and not by the number of 1100$ derailleurs you can purchase IMHO.
Just rambling again.

I thought wealth meant the number of people going "wow, nice bike". You've broken my dreams, themery.

Seriously, this product has been in development for years. What can be so hard to make a parallelogram in carbon? And once you make it, why does it not shift properly? Not a criticism, a question?

An interesting comparison is the finished product that FelixOR built.
He filed, drilled replaced bits and tinkered with a Record RD ....and eventually painted it black (yep....humble spray paint) and did a pretty good job, I think.
From memory it weighed about 130g and shifts like any other well maintained Record RD. I wonder what the total cost was.....probably in the 300$ ish range.

We had one in and it was flexy-rubbish. According to Poshbikes (UK), Lightweight have addressed the issue by not supplying it anymore.
It was sorely tempting of course but I don't really think it should have ever been released. Back to a previous poster - yes, it must be back at the drawing board.
