What shoes except Lake CX400 have a four hole bolt pattern so I wound't have to use an adapter shim from the standard 3 hole pattern?

When I looked into this in 2006, there weren't any but custom, like the Rockets or Lust. See this thread at the Bike Fourum:

I'm still a bit confused about Sidi's... do they have a plate for 4 hole bolt pattern? That would make life much easier.

The old thermoplastic Sidi sole allow you to remove the Sidi adaptator to put the 3 to 4 holes Speedplay adaptator 'inside' the 'thermoplactic sole.

That leads you to have a stackheight of around 9 mm.

You're absolutely correct, this is WeightWeenies... that's why I'd like to use the Speedplays without the extra WEIGHT of the adaptor between the 3 hole shoe (Sidi Genius Carbon 5.5) and the pedal. Plus as an added bonus, a lower stack height.

Is there any tuning on the Speedplay (X) cleat/adapter that wont render the cleats useless in the middle of a race? I weighed mine and without screws they were 46 grams each and 50 grams with screws. Doesnt seem like there is anywhere to cut or dremel anything off to make a big difference. So my X2's are 98g each with a 50 gram cleat. Total is 296 grams. That isnt bad, but 250 or so would be better!!

How much do the cleats weigh on other top of the line pedals? I'll do some research, though I doubt I'd be as happy with anything but Speedplays.

See listings. But for me, the solution is likely Bont, if I can figure out whether to get the "wide" or normal size.

I wonder if price on the bont shoes will go down as their production numbers go up?

Their cycling shoes are $350

But their black widow skates are $199

From the pictures they are identical.
And the skates would seem to me to be more complicated to make as they have to have a pointing point in the heel as well as the toe.

The Bont brand shoes are very aerodynamic looking. Almost wouldnt need she covers for them. But dont they look like they would be extremely hot?

This seems to be the canonical question with them, but the answer always ends up being "not that I've noticed". They also make skates, which should suffer the same issue.
