Ok guys, last thread from me before I move to friendlier boards.
Take at look at the following table I created that compares the Watts/kg for a skinny rider and a Fred:
You can clearly see that the skinny rider has the upper hand when naked but the Fred has a higher watts/kg if both riders are using 25 kg or more worth of bikes, clothing, etc. This means that heavier riders with poor watts/kg should always push for higher bike weights if they want to have a hope of beating the small climbers.
Therefore, when you want to challenge your lighter weight buddy up a mountain pass, always insist that you guys use as heavy a bike as possible assuming you guys will have bikes of the same weight. This means that you should insist on both of you carrying extra tubes, tires, water bottles, food, clothing, cell phone, wallet, etc. This will help even the playing field and it can play to your advantage.

Move to a friendlier board?!? What happened? Did some of the grumpy members offend you incessantly?
Also, does this chart assume that both riders are of equal fitness? i.e. they both fatigue and the same rate?

Well, for one, one rider is putting out 60 more than the other. Two, well, it's fairly obvious this is going to happen, because the % difference of weight will decrease as you increase the mass of the bike. And both riders are going to be carrying the exact same weight? Uh-huh, real world says no.
Though I suppose Lance from Group de Tete/Temple could build you a gold frame
This board would be a nicer place if everyone would take themselves less seriously.

lol.. funny how common sense can be made to look "scientific".
See, anyone with a grain of brain will know that a light rider benefits more from low weight equipment than a heavy rider because.. yes, he is lighter! (all else being equal).
If watts/kg don't change, and you change the kgs, guess what !? yessss, the little guy suffers more from adding weight.

This is a weight weenies site. We care about light bikes. We already know the benefits of a lighter bike as we move up that chart. We have no interest in looking down the chart. Probably everyone here agrees with me on this. We're not even thinking about 50 pounds of bike/clothes/shoe and helmet etc.

it would be different if there was some contribution going on, then he would be missed.
Speaking of frequent contributions that are not worthless......where in the hell have Divve and Mises been lately?
