Giant Fork - Anyone brought one on its own
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi,
I saw on giants website that they sell their forks individually and they seem to be pretty reasonable for price. Anyone used one of these ?
http://www.giant-bicycle.com/uk/055.000 ... model=9955
Is it the one they use on TCRs ?
Thinking of having on my Storck C1.1 when it arrives. Other option is to use my old Columbus Muscle fork
Cheers
Dan

Hi I have TCR composite ONCE with the fork seen in the Giant Site.I didn´t know that they sell the fork to this price, but if I can reassure you my measures are 1,82 mtr. tall, 78kg of weight and no problems to ride an M size TCR and no Problems with the stiffness of the fork..

Good forks, available seperately. You may have to wait a bit for availability. MDT is often a bit more expensive than elsewhere, but good service.

37.5mm! That is a shallow rake! If you're right then you're absolutely right about the twitchiness.
It's kindof funny to see a positive thread about the giant fork .. as a TCR owner I'm even somewhat pleased. But, at the same time I gotta laugh. Like upgrading your porsche with some ford suspension.

Yes and Stork Stiletto forks are also 8mm taller. And Stiletto is very far superrior for compared to Giant. But cost more .

Thanks guys for pointing that one out...I've never heard of a bike having that sort of rake. I'll check with the guys at Storck.
Strange doesn't that mean when you buy a Stilletto for another bike that it screws up the handling

Yes. Stiletto was designed to be superrior fork. And it is still!(order and dimensions was from Stork, read design by THM, I think). So it was ment to be ONLY for Stork bikes. I have one but my bike in also designed for it. First I selected world best fork for big WW-boys and then I designed the frame for it. I think Cube ans Carbon Sports does same (Or new TMH version, not like ly, due to age of their designs?).
New THM fork are new version of it and they have different geometry to fit any stardard bike. And because they are new, they more advaced so they are lighter. Stilettos are still made by THM.

I chased up Storck on this one and they said
'When you use a fork with a rake of 43 the wheelbase will get longer. But the change isn´t very big so the handling doesn´t change so much. With a longer wheelbase the handling on long straights is better, but a littler bit worse in narrow curves'
That said I've gone out and brought a Stiletto Aero fork beacase bobalou's
'Like upgrading your porsche with some ford suspension' hurt
