I decided to try tubes this winter. First I want to cross with them, and after that I want to use them on the road in mostly crit's.

Thought about Dura-Ace hubs and Ambrosio crono f20 rims, spoke count 28 radial front and 28 or 32 crossed rear.

I saw that Adrien made a set and it looks pretty cool and light. http://www.rouesartisanales.com/article-685830.html

My weight is 62kg and 183cm. Totally not a sprinter.

Any opinions on this set?

But I like the look of rad in the front wheel. Is crossed in the front really that better?

wow, everyone's playing this "low profile old school tubular" game. I like it. Always wanted a set with tune hubs myself. It'd be cool to get some ride reviews, comparisons, and weights from all the people who are building these things. I think tire choice is pretty key with these low profile rims.

agree with tyre choice so i might go with some of these for my build

but not quite sure might go a little cheaper tho as cash is tight!

No they're not, and I'm an old fartie. LW's, LEWS', are way cooler, although I have a pair of Mavics with CXRays and Tune hubs.

Tubular tyres of course. Would never sully my bikes with clinchers. :)

Nice choice Stoeperd, they will build up into a great set of wheels.
I too am a sucker for the older style rims and recently finished a set that i'm very pleased with.
I'm sure you'll be happy with the finished product, keep us all posted on the progress of the wheels, including photo's. :)

Anyone can buy expensive wheels, that doesn't make them good.

Absolutely right, so apart from Adam Hansen and a couple of others, this sight is a waste of time then

"better" is too broad a term without some rationalisation. I'd say better for easy maintenance/repair, lightweight and all-weather breaking, but not better for aerodynamics, speed and stiffness. Whether old-skool looks is a good thing depends on rider and the bike.

boring aren't I.

My front wheel is ready, it looks so cool and classy.

Got no pics yet, it it still at my LBS. The rear wheel isn't ready.
Weight of the front wheel 776 gram with skewer.
And gonna glue Gommitalia tubes on the wheels.

I was at my LBS today and the wheels are ready. I couldn't weight the back wheel, because there was a tube on for stretching.
I found 2 yellow Tufo 32mm cross tubes. The weight of them were 320 and 330 gram. Pics will follow.
