CO2 Inflation cartridge warning
Moderators: robbosmans, Moderator Team
This is what can happen if you leave a co2 cartridge in direct hot sunshine. It was in the top of a black tool box wraped in black foam and blew like a gun shot! Perhaps I ought to have known beter than to leave it in the sun

This is somewhat concerning. I've been keeping mine in my saddle packs. But we have 100F+ days in July and August typically. I wonder if even being in my saddle pack (black) they are being subjected to the kind of heat that could cause that to happen.
Wow.
On the other side, I was out for a ride the other day and punctured. No problem, I was 5km from home and had a C02 inflator and spare tube. Only the CO2 cartridge was a dud, I screwed on the inflator valve for no gas to come out, it was empty inside!
Has this happened to anyone else?
