Unibet.com quits
Moderators: robbosmans, Moderator Team
15/08/07 Unibet.com has decided to quit sponsorship of their like named ProTour-Team. The Unibet.com squat shall vanishe at the end of the season.
The ProTour-license didn't gave what it was supposed to be. They were not allowed to race in pretty much all of the ProTour-races. Al kinds of trials did not help leaving the riders behind the lines. The teammanager says he has expected it and tells the riders should start looking for other teams.
I guess it's going to be quite crowdy on the market, with two ProTour teams quiting
edit: this is not a rumour it is actually said on the persconference today. http://www.vrtnieuws.net/cm/vrtnieuws.n ... ibet_stopt

It stinks if that is true! With the problems in cycling at the moment it disgusts me that a company wants to sponsor big time only to get the shaft because of the ASO's bickering. I feel sorry for my friend Matt Wilson who rides for them, actually if feel for all the riders in that team. ASO you should be ashamed!
Who gets the LW's?

I care more at the moment about the people right now who lose there job, due this.
Then where the LW's are going to, if I am right Carbonsports as sponsor is still owner of the wheels.

So serious for such a young boy but very righteous.

Not really surprising, with sponsors of teams who actually got to ride the grand tours either pulling out or thinking about it, a sponsor that has been royally shafted was hardly likely to stick around.

Astana's future isn't so certain yet either. It may be that where last year a ProTour license was unavailable and hard to get, next year they likely won't be able to give one away.
Hopefully Slipstream will resist the license they will be pushed for next year and wait until 2009 when they said they will be ready - unless of course they negotiate to not attend certain required races. And they just might be in a good position to dictate their demands/requirements.

ofcourse I am interrested in the Canyon's, Unibet.com had a good-mix of components which create a very nice bike.
Wiesenhof is also going to stop.

Maybe "Kuiper Trading" could make unibet an offer for their bikes and wheels
