Worst wheels I've ever seen...
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi,
saturday I went out for a fast training with some friends of mine.
One of them appeared with a Saeco Cannondale Caad 5 (still looking very nice) with carbon HED 3 wheels.
He's very fast, weighs around 70 kg (155lbs I think) and very powerful.
We started our favourite training climb (he was using 53x19 I think), when his rear wheel started dragging on rear brake pads...
I slided behind him, and I saw his rear wheel twisting as if it was liquid! He was forced to open the brake (Shimano), and the drag became less intense. I was really surprised!
Does anybody experienced something like that on HED wheels?
Do Zipp 303 wheels behave like this, in your opinion?
Bye, Benz.

my Zipps have no flex and I weigh 150 lb(7lb winter fat), and I live on 3.7 miles of pure straight up climb.
Even when I jump out of the sadle hard they dont flex, and come to think of it my friends that have the same wheels dont have any problems either .

I'm quite happy to hear that Zipps have no flex. Considering that I'm very much lighter than 150 lbs I shouldn't experience any problems with them (I'm planning to buy a pair of climbing wheels)...
I have to admit that I was very surprised to see such a bad behaviour from HED wheels... But their flex was enormous...
I forgot to mention they were clinchers... Should that matter something?
