If it were my $$ I'd pick the Mavic brakes.

I gotta disagree, Dura Ace 7800 are the better of the two, however the Mavic are better then the 7700 Dura Ace.

think I go for the 7800; but also thinking about using Record brakes, are they as good as 7800? Would they work well with ultegra 9v sti levers???

I don't think the Mavics have a quick release. So if you use them with Shimano shifters there will be no QR facility. Depending on your set up and preferences this could be a pain.

I've never tried the Mavics, but the 7800s are a great improvement over 7700s. Braking is more powerful (a bit surprising at first), but also more even.

okay because of the QR I choose shimano7800, but a bit lighter I found the Record ones, that also are avaliable in black...but I still don't know if the lever used(sti/ergo) affects to the braking power and quality; have you tried a mixed combination levers/brakes????

Plain and simple Shimano 7800 and Campy Record choice depending on the group you fitted, they both perform well (allthough I think the record brakes need to be equipped with koolstop pads to become even better).
Think Mavic is the choice if you want a cheaper alternative (but I wouldn't fit them if I had Sti's).
If your pockets are deep enough take the Zero's of AX brakes (like me), both are extremely light but the come with a slight decrease in braking power (acceptable to me).
