are the as rigid as other stems or is there flex on them????

I have one. As you probably have heard there was some that had either short bolts or ovalized bolts that didn't make contact with all the threads.
I just saw some on bikes at the Vegas show so people are still using them.
Where did yours crack? Can you post pics?

i never had one but i'm looking for a new stem for my tt bike
it has to be light+RIGID!
with my walser bar i can't mount stems with large 4bolts clamps (wcs, syntace,...) so i have to look for something smaller!
suggestions?

are the problems with the 'the stems' solved? new bolts?

As far as I know theres only problems in the following to categories:

MTB Users.

Users who overtightened the bolts (Use a torquemeassuring tool!!!)

Take a look at ITMs homepage - there was a review posted by themselves that it was very dangerous to overtighten the bolts just a little bit.
The same is for the Extralite UltraClamp. But it's not that dangerous cracking such a thing while riding.

The problem for the IMT The stem is the magnesium - it's very fralige if stressed. thats the reason why many manufactures don't use this material at all - or only a high amount - and then the benefits over aluminium is = 0.

Hope this helps.

(But think about a Syntace F99 instead - bombproof - and with Ti bolts its as light or even lighter than the ITM)

Hi guys there are just two stems for me,
1.Syntace 260-99 Ti. kit 101 gr in 120mm for 75 euro at gypzybikz
2.Ritchey WCS aprox. the same for a little bit less money but I don´t know where.Last but not least if you guys want to buy a fragile (heard and rode about it- magnesium and so-) stem for more than twice of price ............OK do it.....

i know!
I have wcs stems on all my roadbikes
but they aren't compatible with the Walser TT bar!!!
the maximum clamp width possible for walser is 3,7/3,8mm
because it has an alu insert for the stem mount

ITM with 2 bolts, 3ttt,... is 3,5mm -> fits but no great stems
Ritchey WCS is 4mm
i don't know the exact width of the Syntace clamp but i guess it is the same as WCS

someone gets good < 3,8mm stems for 26mm bars

In a moment of madness I bought one on ebay. Fantastic condition - what a bargain.
I used a torque wrench to tighten the bolts. Did not even get halfway to the recommended torque - sheared the face - piece bolt and two steerer bolts My wrench IS calibrated.
Replaced with stainless ( couldn't get Ti ) and rode. It is very flexy and felt horrible. Could not get the confidence to climb or sprint out of the saddle. I lasted two rides on it.
Also the colour is an acquired taste. But is it light

Now, does anyone want an ITM The Stem, barely used, fantastic condition......
