Sram/Truvativ GXP BB
Moderator: robbosmans
Does anyone know what size bearings Sram/Truvativ uses on their new GXP BB? I read somewhere that they use 2 different sizes but I can't find anything that says for sure what the two sizes are.
Thanks.
Thanks.

As the two openings are of different sizes, yes, I believe the bearings are also of different sizes.
I can help..."ish". I pulled my extra bottom bracket out of the tool box & took some measurements & did some inspecting...short of pulling the bearings. Well, Truvativ are sly. They have their own dust covers on the bearings with no size defining markings. Here are the measurements I took with my Calipers.
The 2 bearings look to be identical, however the non drive side bearing has a sleeve in it to make the ID Smaller. Here are the approx measurements...
OD 1.45"
ID .940"
ID w/ Sleeve .870" (non drive side)
Width .35"
Sleeve Width .50
Hope this helps

Looks like it is a "6805" by matching my measurements to the closest bearing size

Really no way around it, as there is slop on the spindle otherwise.
Why can you not press out the sleeve & repress it into the new bearing? Take it to any decent auto mechanic & he should be able to do it in a couple minutes or point you in the direction of someone with a press who can.
