I own both carbon (Colnago) and carbon/scandium (Casati) frames, however, in 55cm sizes. Both frames have excellent riding qualities and the choice between them would be strictly personal. Carbon/scandium is perhaps slightly more rigid. Neither frame produces any noise per se. However, any noise produced by any part on a scandium bike will be transmitted throughout the frame making detection very difficult. The point of juncture of the carbon and scandium is a weak point and, in the case of a poorly made bike and/or a very heavy rider, etc. could produce real trouble.

Had any experience with this "weak point" and how old was the frame then ?
