14-25 cassette for juniors?
Moderator: robbosmans
Hello,
I'd like to ask the juniors or other people who are aware of this:
we're obligated to ride with a 52-14 as our maximum gear
last year, i had 52-39 and the veloce cassette 14-23 suited me well.
this year, i'm changing to 52-42. so i'd like to have a larger cog.
14-25 of 26, but as far as I know, this are not available.
how would you guys do this?
Is it possible to ride a shimano ultegra cassette on a campa chorus-record drivetrain or is this a stupid question?
or am I obligated to buy 2cassettes and mix them?
Thanks
Koen

I know a guy who got Campa. Record on his bike and the Shimano casette on his rear-wheel (disc, so for TT's)
when I had campa. I had 14-25 Veloce,
maybe you can buy the rings seperate of another manufractor which are compatible with Campa.

I think mixing cassettes would be your best choice. I know I would do that.
There is also Miche 14-26 cassette. Maybe try that, but I think it's a littlebit heavier than Veloce and does not shift as well.

I've raced a whole year on a Shimano cassette in combo with Campa Record and everything worked smooth so...

Yes it is possible. I have shimano cassettes on all my bikes (both campy and shimano). If you use a shimano cassette you will have to use a shimano chain, as far as everything else its OK. But the downside is i have to ajust the derailleur every ride if i want it to be "clean and crisp" this isnt hard, you just ajust the aduster thats by the derailleur.

mm, i'm not that good at 'adjusting', i always screw up bigtime.
that's a great downside (for me for sure)
yeah its a big downside, but all you have to do is twist it, and its very easy to learn how to... but its kind of hard to teach you over the internet...

It's pretty easy to order the two bottom cogs from a Veloce 13-26 or 12-25 cassette and use them in place of the 22 and 23 that comes with the Campy junior cassette. All the other alternatives are less attractive. The separate cogs are available through larger distributors such as QBP.
