$40 is pretty steep. I like the look of the Schmolke but just need the top.
$40 just to cut the bottom off. I already have an alloy expander that I've tuned. I could tune it a bit more. Mmmm

The Sub 3 has to have reinforcement in the tubing, it is the only fork I know of that does, hence why I hate that fork, sorry dude. My ritchey tube is beefy, I'm good to go.

If your fork stem can take it, you can adjust the headset, set the stem, remove the expander bolt/cap and put in this Schmolke cap. 5g, $40.

I would check compatiblity with your fork. In may case, with an AlphaQ Sub3, Hi-Tech actually recommended against its use.

Because a carbon sticker doesn't reinforce the tube. CRUNCH!

The carbon sticker could go somewhere else though...it would be perfect, lighter than duct tape.

I have an AX-lightness one that could be the one you are thinking of. It's shown on the opening page, but is no longer listed under products on either the german or english sections of the site so may not be available any longer. Weighs 4g with bolt.

Poshbikes does have it but they engrave thier name on it and sell it for alot of $. I'm thinking of using the Schmolke one. At first I thought it was to much $. But if I can get rid of my expander completely I would lighten up the whole thing. It will look strange with no bolt.

I made my own. The sponsor logo is clear coated in the top cap.

To adjust the headset:
Use an expander bolt to get the headset adjusted.
Tighten the stem bolts.
Take the expander bolt assembly out.
Tap the top cap in with a mallet.

Weight is less than 1 gram.

Sure, it does not add strength to the steer tube, but it looks cool!

Sintema expander 27.50 Euro - I sawed off a large part of the cap plug part that goes into the fork and replaced the steel bolt with a lightweight aluminum one.

I'm looking for one right now. My fork is 1" carbon so I need a Schmolke that fits inside a 20 mm tube. Hi-Tech didn't have it.
