my Caad9 Cross bike

Here is my new Cross bike. 07' Cannondale Caad9 Si Cyclocross.

- Easton EC90x fork
- Si Carbon crankset with 34/46 rings
- Spooky Carbon brakes
- Ksyrium ES w/Panaracer Crossblaster tires
- Sram Force group with Record CT Front Derailleur
- FSA Plasma bar/stem and K-force lite post
- Arione Saddle

7185g/15.83lbs

I took it out this morning and it rides great. Very fast and responsive. The force is cool, it just takes a little getting used to. Weight is pretty good, I could easily make it a lot lighter, but It has a good stiffness/weight ratio.

nice.. i have force on my cross bike too, but how do you find the braking? mine isnt that powerful, but its my first cross bike so maybe its just cantilever brakes in general...

Well it really depends on your brakes. I had to switch from ceramic pads to a softer compund to get the brakes working well, It didn't have anythign to do with the levers... toe-in is also a factor. Besides that the force is good.

xcfisher, I've got two totally unrelated questions for ya:

Firstly, how much toe-in do you use? I'm totally new to cross bikes, and while my front brake (R550) is hiddeously powerful, my rear does practically nothing.

Secondly, is there any 'cross racing left in So Cal by January? I'm thinking of visiting the family once my thesis is done...

I use a lot of toe in. It seems to help with the power on the canti brakes... as for racing here, check out socalcyclocross.org for a full schedule. I think there are a few after the new year...

Musing- I have a dog fang, I just haven't put it on yet.

Thijsje- Great set up, I will be putting my alu Si cranks on this week. I am switching to a single ring set-up, 42t 130 pattern. It should drop another 200g off between the cranks/FD/Ring/cable ect.

I've got the brakes a tad better, but I need to work on it. It should be better with my tubular wheelset (with less worn rims) mounted.

I have a pair of FSA carbon chainguides lying around, ready to be mounted but I'll stick with the double-chainring setup.

Mine is a 50cm. I am 5'9"

wait, it is a 50cm center to center and you are 5"9'? That is WAY too small, unless there is something weird with sizing.

I´m 6,0 and thinking of the 54cm.... have you been out riding it yet?

does your feet rub the front tire (a little bit) in tight corners??? cause my ridley (52cm did that) and i was wondering since you have a small size, and are almost the same hight as me? i really like to be able to pedal trough some turns!

The sizing on the 50 is not the same as a standard road bike. It is not a measured 50. I ride a 52 road bike (at least in a cannondale) because of top tube length and standover. My inseam is only 29".
