I think that would make Bill very proud and a really fitting final tribute. Good on you.
Very good suggestion Ted,
If I may suggest it would be nice if the Crank of Bill goes to Lee,
he even called to australia to arrange flowers and he arranged a lot of other things and putted a lot of time in it..
altought everyone had his own input in a good way..

I know that this may even be an even more ridiculous demand, but rather than LJ being the only one to get a bigfellow crank, just a special bigfellow crank, something like gold leaf....bloody oath 0G, were not asking much, sorry
What you are proposing is simple incredible. Hopefully someone can get you in contact with Bill's family

OT, I know, but I'd be interested to learn more about this. Frankie-B's Himalayan trip has got me all stirred up and this sounds like another one thats pretty inspriring......

Ted great to see the update and I love the idea of the Bigfellow inscription. Bill and I PMed each other frequently and he is missed. I think the inscription on all would be awesome since I'm on the lightside. I would ride with pride with it on my bike.
The new design is pretty nice to look at too!

Maybe you can be the first up Everest on a Pina eh LJ
For inspiration:
A swedish adventurer actually rode his bike alone from Sweden to Everest climbed it without oxygen and rode back.
The unbearable wallet lightness of being a weightweenie

Well, Frankie will take me to the alps next spring to see if he can find a climber somewhere in me. I suppose I could take the FPX along, although faced with a choice thats the first thing I'd let go of!
Seriously, stuff like this really gets me excited.

Thanks for the update Ted, sounds like you made the right choices to me!
I have send you an email, can't wait to see those cranks in the flesh, I think they look awesome
I like the big-fellow idea, so if his family is ok with it I wouldn't mind having his nick name on my cranks somewhere even if I would need the lightweight version.

Utterly off-topic, but it is possible to combine a carbon fibre fetish with a love for expeditions - my sledges are hand made in carbon/kevlar by a guy in Norway

Very impressive website Ben and quite a good cv

I couldnt think of a better way to go O/T and I'm sure Ted would forgive you being so like minded.
I'm all excited again

He didn't actually respond to me when I sent mine but I sent a separate email asking about the SubHuman project and he gave me a pretty neat memo about it.

Did anybody receive a response mail from Ted already?
I mailed him yesterday and got a very nice response (with an answer to a personal request as well - you'll know more about that later) a few hours later.
