You can follow several tour riders SRM data live in the tour via telekoms homepage.
what is interesting is the uci has a weight mimimum so people aren't using stupid light parts that risk failure and therefore accidents. but you can have that stupid light bike and glue weights to the top tube and all of the sudden it's "safe" to race!
they should have a safety standard on bike gear like helmets. then you would know a light bike was safe to race.

cervelo seems to be happy their carbon bike doesn't break with every crash. i heard that after tyler crashed last year he road the bike to the end of the tour.

Parhaps they (th UCI) should enforce a rule that limits the minimum weight of the bike to say 10% of the weight of the rider? Would be more consistent with minimizing risk of failure I think

Yes, and Virenque could ride a 6kg bike. Seems fair to me.

Magnus had some big problems with the Opera bikes last year and again this year those crappy Italians aren't able to make a good bike for Magnus.
He finished last year with 4 broken frames. At the end of the season he rode a frame with maximum tubes with an internal spiral for more stiffness. It was almost 2 kg.
Magnus had no problems with Principia 2 years ago

Kurt-Asle Arvesen has crashed in (almost) every stage this year and not broke a single Cervélo. I think he has crash-tested all the Cervélos (Soloist, P3 and R2.5team) in TdF.
