We receive more and more reports from people who got an unsolicited offer for bikes or parts they showed interest for in the forum.

That's why we've decided to add a new rule into our board policies:
Quote:
Unsolicited advertising by companies or affilliated persons is undesired and considered as spam.
Our members are encouraged to report us such infringements.
However companies are free to answer questions about their products that come up in the forums.

The complete rules and regulations can be found here.

It has come to our attention that some users advertise one or more companies thru banners in their signature.

We'd like to clarify that these banners are also subject to our rules against unsolicited advertising.
The affected banners have been removed.
Adding such banners to signatures in the future will lead to an immediate warning and removal of the banner(s).

Thank you for your understanding.

May I suggest that new accounts are set by default to NOT allow other users to access their email address?

After joining a couple of days ago, not only have I recieved bike related spam (From someone called Justin from focus-carbon.com), but I've also started getting standard issue (viagra etc.) spam that this account never used to get.....

It's not a big deal to me, obviously I should have checked my settings, but other forums do generally have email addresses hidden by default, and I expected it to be the same here.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I just got the same spam from "justin" and have also seen an increase in viagra/penis spam lately. I'm confused as to why this is if it's to do with WW as although emails are turned on, I didn't think there was a way for users to see my actual address. Or is there?

Yes they can see your address if theY click the email button. We are working at trying to reduce them spammers since, for me, make the site a PITA.
