light seatpost for cyclocross
Moderator: Moderator Team
Hi,
have you any experiences with Heylight HSP II or even with New Ultimate seatposts for cyclocross?
I am searching for a light seatpost in 31,6mm, just 300-320mm, my weight is about 64kg, but there are some not very smooth jumps on the saddle, several races, etc.
Till now i had a tune seatpost (no problems with it!), but for my new frame i need another one.
What can you recommend?
Thanks

have you looked at the KCNC ti pro lite?
31.6x350mm is 152 grams and less than $90.
Same style mounting head as the New Ultimate.

I have both the Ti lite and the M2 superpost (no longer being made) and I would reccomend both of them as long as you are pretty light.
in theory superlite seatposts are no problem in cyclocross, because you don't really jump onto the saddle, but slip onto it on the inside of your leg(the part between hip and knee).
you ride a lot standing, and also over hard bumps you don't sit. the hardest is when you pedal e.g. over a frozen field(you can't ride standing for 500 + meters every lap), but when you ride with a lot of power, you don't sit on the saddle with your whole weight.
if sponsorship and money would allow it, i would like to try such really lite seatposts on the cx bike, rather than on the road bike...

yes, in theory...
But unfortunatelly i don´t have this smooth technic (yet), that´s why i wrote about the "harder jumps". And so is my question: Which (light) seatpost could withstand these loads, even if i don´t weigh very much?
You may want to check out the USE Alien seatposts, the alloy version in 270mm/31.6 weighs arround 150g and holds up very well. The carbon ones are even a bit lighter. The only thing ist, that saddle mounting is a bit complicated, but once that is done, its a great seatpost.

kcnc can withstand these loads, also it rated up to a 220 lb rider

Have you weigh it yourself?? Because it should be 175g at 31,6/350mm.
yes ive weighed a lot of them, the weight is the same for them all
