Have you seen Mayo's Orbea prototype climbing bike?http://www.cyclingnews.com/tech.php?id=photos/2004/tech/probikes/euskaltel_orbea/mayo_ventoux21,can't imagine that drilled out Dura Ace 10 speed stuff saves that much weight, plus it looks 70's hideous! Why not get some light wheels for his rig instead,or are those Mavic Ksyrium wheels the best Mavic can offer in the way of light weight wheelsets at the moment?
One things for sure, this UCI weight limit is certainly counter productive, imagine what the teams could come up with with no limit to contend with?Drool........!

My guess is the bike is made to draw more media attention than it's supposed to be ridden. Most members of this board know that it takes next to no effort to make a 6.8kg bike with such a small frame and custom one at that.
