I am suprised no one noticed that there is no difference in diameter between the seat tube and seat post - Maybe the seat post enters the tube further above the top tube than normal?

Also, he is still using a plain, Easton Aluminium Stem.

Indeed, just the EC70 stem. No Mag or so.
And that Deda Clip One aerobar bracket is strange
Maybe he dicided to leave his aerobar off just minutes before the start....
MAybe he started with an aerobar for the first flat metres (if there were any) and threw the aerobar off when the real climb began
Whow! That's a pretty damn nice garage door!

yes, the golden (why?) joints are a clear proof.
to my own surprise i saw a lot of bmc team bikes at the
team presentation not using carbon cranks. (he might be still using 9-speed?)
definetly a great ride (i guess it scratches the uci weight-limit really closely...)

9 SPEED ????????????????????????????????????

I'm amazed there's people that don't even know what they're talking about. He is riding Campagnolo 10 speed Record: it's 5 (FIVE) years or more that Campy is on 10 speed!

I bet that we will see Tyler riding Campy Compact carbon cranks this year at TDF... He was one of the few riding "compact" last TDF... so he might be waiting for a pre-production couple of cranks, and still using the reliable alu ones.

Bye, Benz.

tyler has lost his Deda aerobars during the TT????
the small part that links the aerobars is still there, but the bars are gone :s
i had mine broken on the cobblestones ones but it has to be strong enough for the ventoux!

ciao

Was he riding a compact? No.... I don't think so. Why would he? The pro's can do it all with a 39

hey benz, cool down,
during this year´s training sessions had been some phonak pros who
rode 9speed with al cranks....and i only saw the first tiny pic.

@ alphaltdude: during the 03 tdf tyler rode compact cranks after
he broke his collarbone. they helped him to remain seated in steep climbs.

peace!

tobias.
nothing.

Have you seen how flexitable it is? Not suprising that he uses custom alloy one instead it!

And what goes mag etc. "light" stems....I snapped ITM Millenium 110mm stem on middle on last winter, little under 5 month riding! And last week my racer friend crached on training from 50km/h with his new TT-bike since his Deta Newton stem snapped broke also suddenly! Now not very nice looking guy... both stems are way to factories, let's see what they say about them.

Phonak riding 9 speed "missing manufacturer" and alu cranks...

9 speed Campy? I don't think so...

9 speed Dura Ace? Maybe, but I've never found any evidence of Phonak riding Shimano this year.

CSC, former Tyler's team, used 9 speed Shimano Dura Ace all over last season...

Bye, Benz.

yeah, in 03 csc used sram cassettes (which are 9-speed only). i couldn´t find
a good pic, but http://www.speedplay.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=gallery.phonak2_imagebig&imageid=29
here you could see some campy record al cranks (i dunno if 9 oder 10 speed...)

btw. i know phonak is using campy in 04

Stage one carbon Record cranks. This is just speculation, but not all teams have full Campagnolo sponsorship. If you have to pay for your stuff (with whatever discount), it still adds up with 50 or so bikes. So why replace perfectly good stuff with a new version if it hasn't worn out yet. Also, note that he has '03 shifters on this bike and on the all black BMC he has '04 shifters.
