Ah come on, who's gonna crash during a TT?

Bobby Julich. High speed crash knocked him out of the TDF a few years back (1999 I think: Lance's first win) the same as with Boardman.

True. 1999. Metz.

Yeah, Roberto Heras/Cristian vandeVelde. More names on the list.

Something about the BB being too narrow. Seems Hincapie likes it

I heard about the BB issue on his TT bike, but I didn't see that show...what was that about?

Trek narrowed the bike by a few millimeters to reduce drag, but Lance found it much less comfy.

Hm, let's ask Google:

Boardman:
"This was the second time the 30-year-old Boardman has been injured and forced to withdraw from the Tour. In 1995, he crashed as he took a curve in the rain during the opening prologue and broke his ankle."

(I saw that one live on TV. It was raining *very* hard, and Boardman was one of very few to ride 100%. In fact he rode lika a madman. His teamcar almost ran over him, because the road was so slippery)

Julich:
"The Cofidis team leader lay motionless for some time before race doctors could reach him. Julich was taken to hospital with chest, rib, back and elbow injuries and was being detained overnight."

Peschel:
"Gerolsteiner’s time trial specialist Uwe Peschel was forced to retire from the Tour de France last night, taken to hospital with a fractured rib after falling twice in the final dangerous kilometres of the stage into Nantes. "

Gonzales de Galdeano:
"Spaniard Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano fractured his collarbone
in a crash in Sunday's time trial of the Tour of Germany, race organisers said on Monday. "

i personally can't see how a helmet would have helped any of these. ITT is not really dangerous at all, as riding alone never is.

But lets not start a helmet war here. It's not WW related :-)

It IS! Leaving off your helmet puts your life at risk but saves 250 grams. Well that's an easy dicision, huh! Are you a real WW or not
