I have been thinking about getting a cross bike to use this winter for off-season training and to use as a spare bike/heavy training bike in the summer. One of my teammates who has a cross-bike actually broke his road bike's seattube and rode his Cross-Bike in a three day omnium our team raced recently. Another one of my teammates is thinking along the same lines as I and we will probably be able to get the bikes from our sponsor at a pretty good discount.

Also, I was thinking of the advantage of being able to train on the road on a much heavier bike while still racing on a lighter one and having the same position on both.

I am probably going to end up selling my mountain bike so I can get this bike.
