Me, Selfish and Lonely me

I'm not sure where to put this.
Guys,
I'd just like to say thanks for all the posts on lightening my bike, and all the training info on the forum.
I've trained my buns off for 10 months. My buns have shrunk massively, so i look like i am wearing my dads shirts and trousers; which is nice.
My first race is in 2 weeks- solo 24hr mtb race. I'm doing three of these for a cancer charity, having had 18months of pure hell with the disease myself 13 years ago.
2 week taper, lots of high quality food- nothing pre-made. NO BEER, NO COFFEE.
All the lonely and selfish training has made me fitter, and you guys helped.
Thank you, thank you.

Congrats on that Lardy and good luck at the 24 h. races!
If you want to see 'meh' content of me and my bike you can follow my life in pictures here!'Tape was made to wrap your GF's gifts, NOT hold a freakin tire on.'
Well, that's the first one of the year done. I was on for a good ride until i changed my shoes from sidi to specialized around the 90mile mark... My right knee blew up immediately and i was in agony- for 14 more hours.
From that point on i had to keep my heart rate at 110-120 (instead of 135-155) to stop me pushing too hard on the pedals and causing a massive knee pain, instead of the unbearable one i actually put up with.
I belive that it cost me two laps.
So i ended up 2nd with 22 laps (220miles and 23000ft climbing) instead of 240 miles and 24000 odd feet of climbing. The winner did 230 miles.
Oh well, you live and learn, and then you ice your massive knee.
S'funny, but I find both pairs shoes comfy, but wearing one pair after the other when you are knackered obviously doesn't mix. I made the mistake of not trying the same thing prior tp the race. FOOL!
Not sure if i should have kept going, really.

Sponsorship is easy thanks Rich, I'll have a new pair of legs (LJ's will do) and a new, sore free arse (i quite fancy being able to sqeeze Angelina Jolies' anytime i like).
Alternatively you could visit and donate over the web, if you like. But remember all the technical help i have had from you guys.
