I thought we weren't supposed to put magnets on the spokes - or is it OK to do so if they're the right shape?

Of course you can put ANY magnet on a spoke. You may screw it on (like the Ksyrium ones), glue it on or fix it in any other way.

The spokes are made from Aramide/Carbon, not from Candy

The leaflet provided by the UK distributor on behalf of Dierl and Obermeyer says:

"Magnets with screw clamps must NOT be used. Any device that screws down on to the spoke may cause damage....

"...the bare magnet can be fixed to the spoke using double sided tape but this must be in conjunction with an additional binding, such as a wrap of adhesive tape. GREAT CARE MUST BE TAKEN WITH THE LEADING AND TRAILING EDGES OF THE SPOKES TO AVOID THE POSSIBILITY OF ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE."

It is correct that you should be careful not to damage the spoke with a screw or something sharp (of course...and I hope, you take care of your metal spokes, too).

The normal screw-on magnets are not suitable anyway - they just don´t fit onto bladed spokes. The ones which are delivered with the ksyriums fit very well and may be used "properly installed" (I did so myself with my own LW´s)
But anyway: Glueing a small high-power magnet -like the tune or others- makes more sense. Less drag & less weight & better looks

BTW: There is no official distributor for Lightweight in the UK (yet).

But I think the Sigma magnet (which doesn't screw on, but slides on to the spoke) might also work...

Yes, it is a Syntace Racelite 7075- good guess . i measured the drop to be ~170mm c-c (rough estimate ) The Frame is a "M", virtual top tube length is 540mm.

Is positioning in the drops comfortable and variable?
I now have Deda Newton 31,7.
I don't like the cramped drops, only one position really, and I don't like the 31,7 "bump" near the stem, which is exactly where I want my hands to be sometimes....
