whether they try to do it, I would like to know in advance so I could plan not to watch it. the concept of SKY train owning the roads for the whole 9 weeks seems like a torture to me.

Im sorry, you used kerfuffle erroneously, you should have used Brouhaha.

If I were serious about historical legacy in cycling and I was in Froome's postion right now - I'd be thinking do the Giro next year even if it means missing the tour. Only my opinion though.

If I were Froome, I'd think about getting to the 5 wins club before trying the Giro before the Tour.

Looks like the rider didn't shift his weight back over the speed hump...but that's still an unacceptable outcome!

Mechanic's fault or the bars just broke as all his weight came down on them?

Also he got a flat on the front tire when the tire hit the ground after the rider was already launched forward. Clear to see on the slowmo.
That's a pinch flat, most likely on a tubular.

Looks like the mechanics fault to me. The aero bars/stack look like they didn't have enough torque to hold. They didn't snap or anything, the whole thing just rotated downwards and which caused him to buckle forward with it and by the end I it looks to be dangling by the brake cables alone.

Luckily the crash didn't look bad at all, one of the few times crashing in the rain is preferable :smartass:

He almost was able to recover by grabbing the lower bars. I don't get the not wearing gloves. His palms took the brunt of that crash. Ouch!

lol maybe slow mo might allude to that, but no way anyone is going to go from extensions to grabbing for lower bars at race speed and real time.

And even if he managed to get a grip on the basebar, the dropped extension would get caught in the wheel and bamm, face first crash...

In regards to the AG2R incident rumor has it the mechanic put risers under the bar but did not put the appropriate screws in after - so they either broke or finally came free.
