Has this happened to anyone else? During a ride I got a message on my Edge 800 that it had lost contact with the right-side power meter. I thought the battery had died, but when I got home I saw this. It has less than 2K miles on it, and I haven't snagged it on anything or abused it in any way.

The v2 are more resilient then v1.. I've had vectors since release.. v1 was fairly easy to wreck ... but sometimes it's user error too.

Have had them since they first came out, used everyday, swapped within 3 bikes, zero issues.

Been using the v1 and upgraded to v2, which the pods are much better. Couldn't believe it breaks on its own.

The most likely thing it snagged on that could possibly tear the plug off is the chain... I have two sets of Vectors and have been using them for three years with no problems

That's my kids favorite excuse 'I did not do it, it broke itself'.

Does not hurt to ask if Garmin will take care of it. I would look for signs of impact.

Worst case scenario a new pod is $80.

What I found was that if you hit a bump that slapped the chain enough and it happened to coincide with the pod being in the right part of the pedal stroke then the chain would clear sheer the pod connector off. At $100 to replace it gets expensive.

This happened to me once - it's the chain that caught the pod's plug on the inside of the pedal/crank arm. I had it when changing bikes and going from Shimano to Campag. It was hardly noticeable, but the plug stuck out just a fraction (less than a mm) further on the inside of the crank arm.

The solution is to put a washer on the drive side pedal which allows the plug to go further in on the other side - i.e. further away from the chain. Garmin will likely replace it without charge as the pods have been a continual problem for them (I had a couple of v1 pods brake for different reasons and they were very helpful each time). The pedals have been great for me overall.

I'm still using the V1. Haven't had to replace or change the pods at all.
