Goodridge hoses weight

How much heavier are the goodridge hoses compared to standard brake hoses?

Has anyone had any experience with goodridge hoses?
How much better will the brakes perform?
Do they weigh significantly more?

I have them on my Ellsworth, and installed them after using the stock ones for about a year.

The feel of the brakes is significantly better (harder tap- the fluid out of the old ones was in V.Good condition).

They look heaps cooler with the SS braid than the black plastic ones did.

Blatent commertial plug- Use the worlds best brake fluid: Cyco Racing (in Australia) around the world sold as NEO high performance brake fluid (the F1 stuff is overkill).

I found out that the carbon9(mtb) hose from goodridge weighs 48g/m.

Does anyone know the weight of any standard hoses (preferably hope)
of any perticular lenth?

Has no one ever weighed a disc brake hose?

Hope hose weighs 23g per metre.

That would make the goodridge hoses around double the weight of a normal
hose.

The improved lever feel and EXTRA POWER make this a real competitor to increasing the size of the rottors. In weight , performance and cost.

They felt a little heavier, but I had not measured it. I am willing to sacrifice this though for the performance gains.

Has anyone looked into the benefits of reducing your rotor size while at the same time upgrading your hoses.

By doing this can you:

Reduce the weight while keeping the same stopping power?
Reduce the weight while slightly increasing the stopping power?


If anyone came up with any proper analysis, I would suggest posting it in the technical section.

I've just upgraded from Hope Mini (185/165mm) to Hope Mono Mini (165/145mm) and reckon that the Mono's are more powerful. This is largely due to the one piece caliper and a great reduction in the caliper body flexing.

This is before an upgrade to Goodridge hoses too, which will further improve the performance. OK, so the hoses are heavier than the stock Hope (or Parker) ones, but the hose fittings are smaller and will be lighter than Hopes, and are exquisitely machined too

I didn't know that you could get 165/145 mono minis rotors.
I thought it was only 180/160/140.
Do you have a custom setup or is this just a typing error?

Well spotted - my rotors are, as you correctly point out, 160/140mm. I'm interested that you were concerned about the power of mono's. They took longer to bed in than the old ones (pad compound different I think), but once they were through that they are great. Mind you, neither me nor my bike weigh much, so perhaps they are going to better for me than your average Joe. The reason I'm going to go for Goodridge hoses is you can never have too much stopping power IMHO

I can't believe the power of these brakes!
I changed from 165/165 mini to 160/140 with goodridge hoses and can't get over the diffrence in performance. It's ridiculas.
Power feels even more impressive than my pals m4's which were untill now the best brakes that i had experenced.
