Hi, my name is Sam and I'm a "newbie"

After a long hiatus from bikes (BMX back in the 80's).. I finally decided I needed to get my 36 year old body back into some kind of shape! I originally went to the bike shop with the intention on spending not more than $2000 on a good mountain bike (The Trek EX8 was #1 spot in that price range, and I loved how it rode).

However, I quickly fell in love (at first sight) with a bike more expensive. The bike shop owner had a Moots Cinco on his store website, after a single ride, and looking at it, I had to have it.

After doing a lot of research on this and other forums, I decided to jump into it feet first! I went back and forth on the build components, but finally and with the advise of my local bike shop and internet research I settled on a mix of brands rather than going all one brand.

I justified it to my self as a good way to guilt trip myself into using it! Here are some pics I just took today. I can't wait now to get it onto the trail! But first, I have to get my self in shape on the local hills here in my neighborhood!

Enjoy!

Except for them being "made in China" which is becoming harder and harder to avoid these days! .. I like Keep in mind I haven't had a chance to try too many other options.

See, since I'm new to biking (at lease new after 12 years), I'm not used to the clip on pedal.. so I wanted a decent quality, rugged and light peddle.. and this is what the store staff recommended.. I like the way you can customize the studs, and the way they give you the choice of two colors... I chose the red to match the seat.

Do you have any other peddles that you would recommend I look at?

btw.. nice website you have... I book marked it!

Very nice bike; wish I could afford X-O stuff, not my deore XT. A SRAM X9 drivetrain is my next upgrade for my freeride bike; it's nearly as good as X0 stuff for performance, but not weight. You also have my favorite suspension linkage; dual pivot rocks.

Thanks sam.... I put the XO on at the last minute. I was going to go with the full Shimano XTR groupo but after riding the XO linkage, I found it more robust and quick in response to the shift commands for the rear derailluer, weight not withstanding.

thank you for the compliments... things are going great apart from the fact that is already 104 degrees out here by noon, and I've not been riding the bike for about two weeks now... and likely won't be riding it until late October! Image
