This is my XC bike, I don't give it much use anymore but I'm sure I will use it more in the future

I purchased the bike second hand and have replaced the componentry and wheels.

Frame- Sintessi Jade Easton Elite Tubing
Fork- Rock Shox 97 Indy C
Groupset- LX/XT running gear. (expection of RD and brakes),
Bars- Easton EA50 Bars,
Stem- Titec
Front Wheel- 221 rim on a Campy hub (heavy but sweet  )
Tyre- Mich Wildgripper Front S (very good front tyre)
Rear Wheel- X517 on an XT Hub (heavy and durable)
Tyre- IRC Mythos Slick 2.1 (heavy and being replaced when worn out)
Saddle- WTB Rocket V,
Pedals- Time Alumin (to be replaced if used more).
Weighs around 22lbs

Next upgrade would be a better pair of forks as the Indy C only gives 40mm of travel :(

I'd be interested to see what the other members are riding/working on.

Brian

I ride a Surly 1x1 bike.

It was rigid up until 2 weeks ago. It's now got a Zoki Bomber on the front oh and different crank arms and chain ring. (Pics a little dated)

I just replaced the chain as of last night. I was hammering up a hill and BAM the chain snaps on me! I went flying off into some bushes :? luckily I kept the family jewels all intact

I was using a PC99 and it was fine up until Saturday when it bust on me for the first time. Figured it was ok until last night when it went on me again! Now using a PC48 or is it a 58 hmmm not sure anyway its a more solid chain!

Nice parts about the bike are the Phil Wood wheels, Ionic cranks, Boone ti chain ring, Time pedals, King steel cage and the fork which is nice and stiff.

After riding steel (this being my first steel framed bike) I'm never going back to aluminium. I'd only ever consider steel or ti for a frame now.

This bike is super cheap but rides like a dream. None or rather very little maintenance is required. Tons of fun I love it!

What size is the chainring Nik?
I have a 48 with 175mm cranks.

Is it SS for weight or for use?

I own two bikes, but the bike for the races is still under construction.
The bike i use for training is an old giant frame that i bought for a can of coke and a pack of biscuits from a friend. After stripping, sanding and a lot of polishing I build it with parts i already had. i recently made some changes.

I now ride with michelin jett S, I've turned the stem so it's in the +5 deg position. i ride nikhtubes, and ordered a truvativ double clamp post. But i really dont have any luck with this thing. it's in order for about three months now! I also changed the front inner ring. (i ride 2 x 9) and the bolts. their blue now! and 34 in stead of 36! the crancks are 170mm. Thats kinda short when youre 1,96 m. But good spin training! I also changed the bb into a bsa 68 with 104mm spindle. Thats short!!!!

Just curious because I'm using a PC-89R Hollowpin:
What snapped exactly?
The Powerlink or a normal pin? Or did an outer plate snap?

Frankie, don't you have trouble decending with your saddle so high?
Frame looks nice in silver, why rigid forks?

Sorry i changed pics. Is the high saddle gone now? I think i've got some long legs! I havn't had any troubles so far. I'm a very fast in decents.

Ridgid: coz i think it will make me a better technical biker. And also because i found out that i really don't need a sus fork. I ride in the netherlands (flat) in the belgian ardennes (houffalize) and in the french alps. Ridgid also make the bike lighter! :D

Nope, I'm 5'6 and the saddle height is still very high compared to anything I own.
You don't find you are quicker over log hops, jumps, roots, etc? I'm hoping my bike will be faster with a decent pair of forks but my skill level sucks (too much road).

The chainring is a 34 with 175mm cranks.

The SS is for use its my only bike currently!

I probably used the wrong word when I said snapped. The chain split in two nothing was broken. It simply pulled away at a normal pin. I'm guessing its down to my amatuer mechanical skills :)

I have friends who use the PC99 for SS'ing and haven't had problems.
