Just a sidenote about Cipollini's bike:
the bike pictured above wasn't used by him in the race, at least not with those wheels.
Cippolini rolled it only to and from the inscription.
In the race Cipollini rode Lightweights with Cosmic Carbon stickers on it.
You could clearly recognize them, because the Italian TV was repeating Cipollinis suffering on the first climb in slow-motion several times.

It's not a Corima rim, the weave is different and it looks to be deeper. Maybe they got sick of riders doing it themselves and built a batch of all carbon wheels for the Pro's?

But they must have had them UCI tested?!?

Quick thought on Mavic and these "mystery" wheels:
Years ago, Richard Virenque chose to use a pair of ADAs in the Worlds race at Sicily. Mavic sponsored Festina and when they found out, they went berserk and cut their sponsorship with short notice. If I were a team director, I'd be concerned about a similar scenario given the money Mavic pays to have these guys riding their wheels; so, having someone build up a lighter aero wheel and marking it up as a Mavic would make sense to me.

On the other hand, maybe they are prototypes.

Still no good explanation for T-Mobile to be using all sorts of different, non-Shimano wheels though. ;)

Not only T-Mobile bikes are fitted with several different wheelsets, but they also get different seatposts.

In Milano-Sanremo, Nardello's bike was equipped with DA standard seatpost (7700 series), while Wesemann's got (unknown) carbon post.

Furthermore, Wesemann wheels looked very similar to Lightweights (but I can obviously be wrong), having bigger hubs and thicker spokes than Cosmics (and also i didn't see any yellow sticker on them)...

Bye, Benz.

Two pictures of Cipollini's bike at the inscription and during race.
Find the difference. :)

I see the difference...in the second picture, people still thought he was capable of winning MSR after playing his usual games

I wonder what Mavic think after going to the work of making new wheels?
