Campagnolo Neutron Ultra Upgrade

Has anyone managed to upgrade their Neutron Ultra to ceramic bearings??

If so, could you shed some light please.

Although I own a set I haven't changed the bearings. Some quick google-ing turned up this:

If you want to run the Cult bearings in your Neutron hubs, you really shouldn't just replace the bearings. You really need to replace the cups that are pressed into the hubs as well. They are specially treated ("Chronitec"), and allow you to run the hard ceramic bearings directly against them with no grease, just a little light oil. If you put grease in the bearings, it effectively negates any of the advantages of having the CULT bearings in the first place. Personally, I would not bother. Properly maintained and adjusted the bearings in your Neutron hubs are excellent and I don't think you'd notice an appreciable difference in riding. Also, I'm not sure what year your Neutrons are, but the older Boras would require you to actually remove the spokes in order to get the cups out of the shell. Something to think about if a similar task would be required in order to replace the cups in your Neutrons.

All versions of the Neutron and Neutron Ultra require that the non gear side of the rear and both sides of the front wheel are un-spoked before changing over the bearing inserts - the OD of the insert is a few thou bigger than the ID of the heads of the spokes.

As Calnago notes, Bora Ultras and Ultra 2s are the same.

Bora 35s - no problem, the hub has been redesigned.

If you are fastidious about maintenance and keeping the bearing dry (i.e. wash the bike wheels out and don't ride in the rain) actually you can run the steel-steel combination on oil - the grease is there to keep the oil film covering the bearings and bearing surfaces to prevent corrosion. It's certainly not recommended by Campagnolo and doing so will void the warranty but "Back in the Day", a lot of time-triallists and trackies used to do just that.

Hi all - slightly off topic. But does anyone know where I can get a set of spokes to rebuild the rear wheel? Been looking at Sapim C-X Rays - but can't find what the length of spokes needs to be!
