NEW PICTURES with Carbon wheels + bonus - on page 3
-------------------------
Finally built the bike I wanted!
Not the lightest bike for this forum, but we should consider a steel frameset
The objective was to have a steel classic-look frame with modern components. Here are the results:
Overall weight is 8.2 kg
Frame and fork: De Rosa Neo Primato + self-made sticker on a seat tube
Wheels: Campagnolo Zonda + Continental GP4000 sII tyres + Maxxis ultralight tubes + ti bolt-on skewers
Groupset: Campagnolo Athena Carbon 11 speed
Brakes: Planet X CNC + Nokon outer cables
Handlebars: NoName carbon (200 g)
Stem: Ritchey Classic with carbon front plate
Seatpost: Ritchey Classic
Seat: Charge knife (215 g)
Pedals: Crank Brothers Candy 2 with ti spindles
Bottle cage: NoName titanium (27 g)
Thinking of buying 38mm carbon wheels, but not 100% sure...
Big pictures:

Campy really need to make some silver wheels for these neo-retro builds. Love the Ritchey Classic finishing kit, and what's the bar tape? I've been wondering what's out there without logos to match the Charge saddles.
Dude. Yes.
Home made sticker works so well. Wouldn't go 38mm carbons, but low profile carbon (20-25mm) with no decals would look great, and match the crank. Even the tyres look great. Well done.

It is a fine bike and Focus should take a look at it to provide AG2R with a bike in same colors.

kgt, there would always be a mix of materials if you want to build a light bike on a steel frame.
Very very classy. Just got to love that sort of timeless bikes.
Purely for aesthetic reasons of course, if you would use traditional bend bars, that would be the icing on the cake.

Sure but all mixes are not the same... There are mixes of components that look great together and others that don't.
In your case i.e. you might try:
either an alu crankset and a nicer (more classy) brown saddle
or black stem-seatpost-brakes and white saddle-bar tape
I am sure it will look much better then. IMHO of course...

Do you have a source for those bars, OP? They look ideal for my purposes.

Wonderful attention to detail here. Excellent final product. A bike you can be proud of.
That looks great! Nicely done.

Agree...I think white bar tape would look nicer? A bit too much brown...lovely frame though...
In the end they're only opinions...
