11-28 11spd Campagnolo cassette available?
Moderator: robbosmans
I love my 11spd Super Record but the 12-27 range leaves a bit to be desired. Shimano riders have it good with the available 11-28!
Does anyone make a light weight 11-28 cassette that has shifting performance on par with the genuine Campagnolo cassette?

I don't think so, at least not in the steel + Ti version?? I only see 12-27...

Its been a few years since I worked on my 9 and 10 speed Campagnolo cassettes. I have too many bikes so its several years before the bikes need an overhaul. But from memory I think the first cog is loose, and the cassette is secured with a separate thread in locking cover cap. So you should be able to take the 12-29 11 speed cassette, you purchase it, replace the first 12 cog with the 11 cog and locking cap from your current cassette, and end up with a 11-29 11 speed cassette. The first cogs will be 11-13 instead of 12-13. But I don't think having a small jump in the first cogs will matter. If you're using the 11 cog then you are going down a cliff and a 2 tooth jump from 11 to 13 won't make any difference. Shifting should be fine from the 11 to 13. Not a meaningful difference compared to the 12-13 shift. I am positive I have read on the internet cycling websites about pro team mechanics mixing up cassettes and ending up with an 11-29 cassette for the pro riders in the mountains. This may have been back in the 10 speed days but it should work with 11 speed cassettes too. 100% sure I have read about this occurring with pro teams. An 11-29 cassette should work just as well as the 11-28 you want.
on the 11-29 cassette i have...the last set of cogs are different from the 11-25 that i have. the difference from 11-13 will be greater than the larger cogs jumping 2 teeth at a time.

I know it's a sin but I run Shimano chains and cassettes on multiple campy 11 groups with fantastic results and you better believe the 11-28 is my favorite thing in this world =)
Seriously what is the point of having a 28t to get up the hill if you don't have the 11t to go back down?

I've been having this debate with friends for months. Do we really feel the difference from an 11 to a 12 on a descent?
I mean, I don't whatsoever. I used to eat the 11t fruit, but it doesn't really matter to me anymore.
I have a Campy 12-29 and 12-27 combo. All the gearing I need.
I was so bent on SR cassettes, but the teeth wear fast and you're only shaving a few grams over durability with the Chorus cassette.
12-29 for life with 50/34 or 52/36. MONEY!

I have the first year Super Record 11sp. Seems I was reading somewhere some adjustment was required for this generation r.der. to accomodate a 29t cog. Anyone here know if so, and if so, what changes are required?
11x29 and 50/34 would be perfect for 59 yr old legs on Hogpen Gap next month! (Been a few years since I was really a 12x23 lol).
