CaptainInsano wrote:Seneb, you da man! I've been thinking about buying a Emonda SL frameset, and use my existing stuff, and this thread has been invaluable. Thanks.

Another question: Was the black-on-black colorway (found on the SL 6) an option to you as a frameset? I'd like to buy a murdered out frame, if it's available.

I'm glad some people have found this thread useful! The only option for color is the one I have.

I have a few changes to the bike already, and am waiting on a few more parts. I'll give an update shortly.

What are your thoughts on the bike with more miles on it now?

Looks great. Can you take a photo of the front brake showing the tire clearance? Are you running 23s on the Easton wheels? Thanks!

Those aren't the new Bontrager brakes. They look like the old-school Speed Limit brakes. I can confirm they are good, although not as light as other options (I ran these on my old Madone).

Yeah, the SL 500 series Emonda gets "traditional" center mount brakes. The SLR 700 series bikes get direct mount brakes. Originally, it looked like the SLR10 would get the new Bontrager brakes while the lower models got Shimano versions. But it looks like all the SLR models get the new Bontrager brake, based on the US website.

Thanks for posting that. I'm running 25s and have a bit less clearance than that (obviously). Based on the amount of clearance in the rear, it almost seems that they got the brake mounting bolt angle incorrect. If it were up a touch, there would be a lot more clearance.

Do you know what the top head tube diameter on the Emonda is?

I'm trying to see what is the shortest top cap headset stack I can run - Cane Creek do a 6.85 mm top cap but is only in 44 mm diameter...
