Whatup Fam,

Maybe my favorite Blacksmith build of the summer so far...

Pretty easy build to break down, but details are here...

Feel free to ask any questions.

Best,

Beautiful, I really don't like the campy anniversary logos though. Reg super record logos looks 1000% better. Just my opinion.

Amazing! My only suggestion is to use valve extenders which are just long enough to get your pump on. Much cleaner look then the ones you use.
Still, beautiful bike!

Thanks, gang.
The wheels are actually just for the photos.
Customer's actual hoops are new Xentis 2015 Squad 4.2 all-black UD clinchers.
But those don't arrive for about two weeks.
As for the SR group, I actually dig the 80th finish with the matte clear coat.
But if I were to build a bike next month I'd wait for new 2015 Campy mechanical instead.

Mike

Love this. I've been a big Argo fan ever since I saw John Prolly's on his website.

Stoked to see one of his bikes pop up here - fitting it came from you! Bens bikes are a thing of beauty.

NIce attention to aesthetic details around the joints.

Is it just some additional "weaved" carbon layer design put over a monocoque construction, and creating a "lugged type" look construction ?

Louis :)

P.S. Your clients are too tall ;) ...

Hey Louis - the Argonauts have a "custom monocoque" construction.
Tyler from BIkeRumor did a great job of breaking it down in his factory visit:
http://www.bikerumor.com/2013/01/28/inside-look-at-argonaut-cycles-unique-full-custom-carbon-monocoque-road-bikes/
I've heard inside industry types from other top brands refer to the construction as "internally lugged".
Either way, the visible wrapped element is indeed structural from what I understand.
Like most handbuilt carbon framesets, there is an element of ride quality tuning through the wrapped areas, aka "lug" or cluster locations.
Those areas being BB, "Seat-collar", and Headtube - really where the stiffness elements of a bike are most important.
My quick ride on this bike had me thinking Ben has figured out an amazing way to generate flex from his ISP as well.
Over some crappy stretches of local road, the bike was super-composed and very smooth.
Yet when my 6'2" ass got out of the saddle to hammer, the bike felt solid where it needed to be.
Overall I was miiiiiighty impressed with our first Argonaut build.
Not cheap, but build quality, weight and ride impressions were all top notch and the customer was very happy.

Mike

Very nice, but I'd like to see it with a smaller size cause the frame looks lovely in both shape and graphics.

Fantastic bike, Argonaut is top of the list when I get a custom frame.
