Just finished building a training bike to help with recovering from back and TKR knee surgery. I needed to build a stiff bike because I am a Super Clydesdale at 159kg. I had to setup the bars a little high for now until my back and belly are in shape for a lower position. The total build came in under 7.5kg and for under $2,200 US. I bought the frame from directly from Dungfu and all the rest from Ebay or Craigslist, mostly used stuff where I could find it. Here is a list of what the build looks like with my lightweight FSA wheels on it. I use some heavy 50mm deep V wheels for training and hope to use the FSA's when I loose some weight.

I just checked on the latest Safari, IE, Chrome and Firefox and they all show the images right away. I am using a PC with Windows 8. I wonder what the foolproof way is to post images to this forum?

I was talking about the height of your steerer tube. I understand you have problems with your fit but that looks dangerous. What do i know

Like the frame, cost and components but I would also question the steertube/stem safety.

Warren - some have already commented on your steerer tube setup, and I'll try to clarify that a bit. Most manufacturers do not recommend using more than about 40 millimeter of spacers below the stem. Using more than the recommended amount can put a lot of stress on that area and be a safety concern. I would say ask the manufacturer to see what their thoughts are, but I doubt they have done any actual testing to be able to give you a good answer.

Thanks for the stem height input. I kinda had a brain fade on that one. It would sure suck to eat it with a failure like that. I will cut it right away to 40mm height. Thanks for the heads up guys.

getting a stem with more rise will negate some of the loss of the spacer stack.

I dropped the stem spacers height above the bearing race to 38mm of spacers and put a Richie adjustable stem on it for now. Looks kinda goofy but gets the job done for now and feels strong.
