I'm not a Shimano user, but would someone be kind enough to indicate which cableset I need to buy for top of the range Dura-Ace mechanical. And with Shimano do you buy as a whole cableset, or do you like buy one set for gears and another set for brakes? Thanks.

DA 9000 brake cables, so far so good.

Thanks for that.

I note that in the review they say that the gear casing is regular SP41 stuff.

New 9k/6800 should use those 9k cablesets - although I have often subbed standard Jagwire cables in lieu of the polymer ones without much decrease in performance. Definitely SP-41 housing though. That's the secret sauce...

Is DA 9000 brake cable compatible with BR 7800, BR 7900 in terms of diameter?

^Yes. I put a 9000 series cableset on a friends 7800 equipped bike.
